Security
People trust us with inspection reports, photos of their house and where the shutoffs are. Here's plainly how that's protected, including the parts that aren't perfect yet.
Who can see your home
Only you, and anyone you choose to share a home with. The database itself enforces this on every table: a request for a home that isn't yours, or shared with you, comes back empty. Photos and reports sit in private storage and are only shown through links that expire after an hour.
DwellTended is run by one person. As the operator, we technically can reach the database to keep it running, the same as almost any web service. We don't look at your home unless you ask us to help with something.
How it's stored
- Every page and email link uses HTTPS, so what you send is encrypted on the way.
- Data and files are encrypted at rest by our database provider.
- Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes by our sign-in provider; nobody can read them.
- Card payments go straight to Stripe. We never see or store a card number.
- Reports and photos sent to Anthropic's Claude are used only to answer your request, and not to train its models.
- Pages tell browsers not to let other sites frame them, which blocks click-jacking tricks.
What we never do
- Sell your information, or pass it to contractors or advertisers.
- Show ads.
- Give a realtor or inspector who gifted you Plus any view of your account.
Weak spots we're honest about
- Two-step sign-in (a code from an app) isn't available for accounts yet.
- Your calendar feed link is a secret address. Anyone you give it to can see your task titles and dates, so treat it like a password.
- We're a small business without an outside security review yet.
Your data, your call
Each home's Settings page downloads everything about it, photos included. Delete my account removes your homes, photos, reports and sign-in right away and cancels any subscription.
If something goes wrong
If your information is ever exposed, we'll email you as soon as we know, and within 72 hours, saying what happened and what to do.
